Chief People Officer,

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

United Kingdom

Helping you to reach your full potential.

About South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

South West Yorkshire Partnership is a specialist NHS Foundation Trust - established in 2002 - that provides community, mental health and learning disability services to the people of Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. We also provide some medium secure (forensic) services to the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber too.

Our Community Partnership
Over 1 million people live in Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield across urban and rural communities from a range of diverse backgrounds. We aim to match the community’s needs with locally sensitive and efficient services along with a workforce that is reflective of the population we serve. We work from a variety of sites as well as with people in their own homes.

We work with other local NHS organisations to provide comprehensive health care to people in our area. We also work closely with local authorities (social care) and with other government departments and voluntary organisations. Working in partnership is very important to us and is vital if we are to continue delivering high quality services for local people. The Trust works and connects with both Integrated Care System (ICS) in South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

Working in partnership also means working with the members of our foundation trust, who can have a say in how we run the Trust and how they wish our services to be developed. Over 11,000 local people have joined us as members, and our staff are also members.

We currently employ around 4,600 staff, in both clinical and non-clinical support services.

Our services are split in five 'care groups'. These are:

  • Barnsley integrated services care group

  • CAMHS and children’s care group

  • Adults and older people mental health care group

  • Forensic care group

  • Learning disabilities and adult ASD/ADHD care group

Each care group is led by a director of services who is accountable for service strategy, clinical quality, operational performance and effective use of resources.

  • Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief People Officer for the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exceptional opportunity to join our Board and I am looking forward to meeting you.

At our Trust, our mission is clear: to enable individuals to realise their potential and lead fulfilling lives within their communities. Our values serve as the cornerstone of our interactions with service users, their families, carers, volunteers, partners, visitors, and staff. These values emphasise the paramount importance of prioritising people, fostering transparency and integrity, and continually striving for excellence.

Since my arrival at the Trust in 2016 and assuming the role of CEO since 2021, I have been continually moved by the unwavering commitment and dedication demonstrated by our colleagues that work across our services, serving the communities of Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. Additionally, our colleagues extend their exceptional care to encompass adult secure (forensic) services, reaching across the entirety of Yorkshire.

As Chief People Officer, you will play a pivotal role in our Executive Team, leading the People Directorate to design and implement a ‘best in class’ People Strategy. Your forward-thinking approach will be instrumental in cultivating an inclusive culture, centred on patients and individuals, empowering our colleagues, and upholding our values. We seek someone with a deep passion for exceptional patient care and a commitment to equity and inclusion, both within our workforce and communities.

We are seeking an exceptional ambitious leader with vision, integrity, and drive. Your ability to foster credibility, inspire confidence, collaborate, and lead effectively across organisational boundaries will be essential for success in this role.

We are excited about the prospect of welcoming a dynamic leader who shares our values and dedication to excellence in patient care and fostering an empowering workplace environment.
