With summer looming on the horizon, many of us look back on the first months of the year and realise that time really does fly. Christmas and the winter weather really do not seem that long ago and here we are closing the first half of the year.
Uncertainty seems to be the underlying theme so far for this year. How strong is our economy, when will we feel the real impacts of a down-turn? In what shape, and when, will we see a Brexit? How will a trade war between the US and China impact us? What do we need to learn and do now about climate change? These uncertainties have come to be important in most of our client engagements.
Looking closer to home, we are proud to conclude that Alumni has had a very strong first half year. We are honoured by the trust our clients show us when choosing us are their partner when developing their executive teams, conducting searches for top management positions. or reviewing the work of their non-executive boards. We are also delighted to welcome several new Alumni colleagues strengthening our ability to serve our clients in all our four Nordic countries.
In the past months, we’ve also had several opportunities to meet many of you in person, outside client-specific engagements. First out was the Women’s Board Award in Denmark of which we are proud partner and glad to take this opportunity to congratulate Helle Valentin again. We also launched our international report ‘The Uncomfortable Boardroom – The New Normal?’ in February during our seminar on boards’ responsibility for sustainability. The highlight for us every May is our Spring Summit in Malmö where we this year welcomed 200 leaders from all over the Nordics.
We value these events not only for our chance to listen and talk to you, but more importantly, the opportunity this gives us to let you meet each other.
We wish you a fantastic summer!
The Alumni team
