Securing the right leadership for growth through multiple key searches
Alumni was approached by a PE-firm which had recently acquired a SEK 5 billion service company from the CEO/founder. One key and immediate action for the new owners was to start building the future leadership structure to support the aggressive growth and profitability improvement plan in the investment case, as well as to drive a major business transformation creating a modern, professional and long-term management structure in the company.
Initially Alumni was retained to search for a new CEO, CIO, chairman of the board and a non-executive director as well as recruiting a head of legal and a group financial controller via our sister company Harvey Nash. As the owners and the interim CEO got a firmer view of the current management structure and quality, we also initiated a search for a CFO as well as several roles within the finance function to secure a solid control and analysis of the business. Alumni set up a client core team with multiple functional competencies to solve the different recruitments where we primarily targeted candidates from sectors other than our client's to inject new frames of reference and experiences into the transformation of this business.
Over the course of a couple of months Alumni lead the processes, assessments and made in-depth background checks via the external firm Look Closer to place seven top qualified candidates in the organisation with various industry backgrounds and types of business. With the new senior management team and board of directors in place, the company is in a completely different situation and shape to be able to deliver on the aggressive business plan and transformation in a sustainable way. The next step regarding management and organisation will be to secure that middle management has the ability to drive the operational development of the set strategy in order to reach full business potential. Moreover, as the elements are in place it will be essential to ensure that group management work effectively as a team and on-board the new leaders.
